In 1990s, China had a big demand of the high performance magnesium powder,but at that time we only had ground magnesium powder with a unstable quality,low content of active magnesium powder, so the powder could not meet the requirments of some industries. However, at the time, there was only Reade in America who could produce this high performance magnesium powder. On the one hand, it was very expensive to import the powder, on the other hand, there was a strict control from the American national defence and the Commerce Department, so there was a big demand of the powder in China.

    In June 1997, the general manager Liu Jinming resigned from the Export&Import Co.,Ltd and organized the money and staff to carry out the project of the high performance atomized spherical magnesium powder, and in January 2000, Tangshan Weihao Magnesium Powder Co. Ltd was established. In February 2000,The company "high-speed centrifugal dish-type atomization" passed the National Non-ferrous Metal Industry Bureau of high new technical achievement appraisal,and the production line of the " high- speed centrifugal dish-type atomization" won the national patent. And thus our company is the first Science and technology enterprise in China that produces atomized spherical magnesium powder in a large scale.

    Where there is a will,there is a way. After many examnations of the production of magnesium powder, in 2004 we could produce the magnesium powder with particle size between +30-+1460mesh in a large scale,which made Tangshan Weihao Magnesium Powder Co. Ltd a well-known enterprise. In July 2005, Tangshan Weihao Magnesium Powder Co. Ltd was awarded by the Hebei Province Science and Technology Hall as a Hebei Province High&New Technology enterprise, and the atomized magnesium powder is recognized as high-tech product. At present, our total asset is 30 million RMB,and we have three production lines, which can produce 1800MT atomized spherical magnesium powder one year. We predict that we will add two production lines in 5 years, then we will produce more than 3000MT powder one year.

    Tangshan Weihao Magnesium Powder Co. Ltd will keep on the R&D of the atomized spherical magnesium powder, and aslo we will enlarge our R&D scope to make innovation towards the mg-based hydrogen storage materails and the powder metallurgy injection-molding based magnesium alloy, and develop the atomized spherical magnesium alloy powder.
